Thunderstorms with intense spells likely in 7 districts today

Thunderstorms with intense to very intense spells are likely in parts of seven districts today. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spell likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Monday.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Nainital and Champawat districts, at a few places in Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain / thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday with 54.4 millimetres in Kotdwar, 32.1 millimetres in Dehradun, 26.5 millimetres in Thalisain, 24.5 millimetresin Bajpur and 17 millimetres in Narendranagar. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Sunday were 33.2 degrees Celsius and 23.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.5 degrees Celsius and 26.7 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22  degrees Celsius and 15.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.7 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
