The cases of Covid-19 infection have been rising in Uttarakhand. The active cases in the state now stand at 96. In the past 24 hours, 45 cases have been reported from across the state and importantly, 35 cases have been reported from Dehradun district alone.  The district-wise break-up of such cases is the following: Dehradun-35, Nainital-6, Haridwar-2, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar- 1 each.

Meanwhile, the Centre has asked the state government to intensify sample testing. But as per reports received, just 300 to 400 samples are being tested daily in the state. Besides, despite the Centre stressing on vigorous vaccination, the state has been facing shortage of vaccines. Some districts do not have stocks of vaccines. In view of this, the state government has asked for one lakh Covishield vaccines. Though all the persons living in the state have got the first vaccination 96 percent have got the second dose and just 27 percent have got the booster dose.
