Meri Maati, Mera Desh programme in Doon, marking I-Day

In latest Dehradun news, Municipal Corporation Dehradun and Sanjay Orthopedic, Spine and Maternity Centre jointly organised a programme based on Meri Maati, Mera Desh   at Jakhan, Rajpur Road, Dehradun, marking the 77th Independence Day. Among those who inaugurated the programme included the former Rajya Sabha member, Tarun Vijay; the mayor, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’; director LOSD, London , Prof. Dr. Parin Somani, Padma Shri recipient Chandrashekhar Singh from Varanasi and the Padma Shri recipient orthopedic surgeon, Dr B K S Sanjay.   The unfurling of the tricolour, tree plantation and felicitating the family members of the martyrs marked the programme. This aside, a cultural programme, themed on patriotism, was presented by the employees of Sanjay Orthopaedic, Spine and Maternity Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Vijay said that it is a privilege to be an Indian due to its luminous cultural legacy. The mayor said that under the Meri Maati, Mera Desh campaign being run by the Government of India, MCD would organise two more programmes soon in Dehradun. He appealed to the residents of Dehradun to participate in all these patriotism-hued programmes.
