U’khand to screen 30 + population for non-communicable diseases

In a massive programme the state Health department will conduct screening of all individuals of the state who have crossed 30 years of age for non-communicable disease. This programme would be undertaken under the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and would be done free of cost. The programme would be undertaken on a massive scale and in the first stage the screening of all health workers would be done. This decision was taken in a meeting of the officers of the state health department on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by the mission director of National Health Mission (NHM) Sonika. In the meeting the mission director asked the officers to prepare a comprehensive work plan for the project so that it is implemented soon. It was decided that after the screening of health workers the screening of state government and non-governmental employees would be done. The screening of general public would be done in the health and wellness centres.

In the meeting Sonika said that review of the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is not being done. She said that it should be taken on priority and directed that review of the maternal death audit should be done by the committee headed by district magistrates concerned.

She said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has recently started Ija Boi Shagun Yojana and an awareness campaign for it should be launched. She said that every pregnant woman should be provided proper facility.

Sonika said that the state government is committed to provide free drug, free diet and free diagnostic facility and every officer of the department should ensure it.

On a terse note she directed the officers of Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi to install the proposed cardiac care unit in the month of December.

The meeting was attended by the NHM director Dr Saroj Naithani and other officers of the state health department.
