Sisodia seeks support of businessmen in U’khand

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has asked local businessmen and industrialists to extend their support to the party in the 2022 Uttarakhand assembly elections. He said that the businessmen will be provided with all the required facilities which successive governments here have failed to provide for years once the party comes to power. He said that the government has failed to take businessmen-friendly decisions and the situation keeps deteriorating in Uttarakhand. Sisodia, who is also the Finance minister of Delhi, held a Devbhoomi Business Dialogue event with people associated with various businesses and industries on Tuesday in Dehradun. Addressing the businessmen in the event, he said that the parties mostly approach the businessmen for funds before the elections but AAP only seeks their support. He asserted that AAP’s government will provide relief to the businessmen from the inspector Raj under which, tax inspectors raid business premises as per their own will which puts unnecessary pressure on businessmen and often leads to their exploitation and corruption.

“We had issued orders in Delhi that no inspector can raid a businessman’s shop without the permission of higher authorities. This lowered the unnecessary intimidation by officials and also led to an increase in the taxes by businessmen. AAP will take such initiative here too. The businessmen will also not have to go to different government offices for different types of paperwork like in Delhi. The employee of the department concerned will come at the doorstep of the businessman to carry out such works,” stated Sisodia. He also said that strengthening a businessman means more generation of employment opportunities and an increase in tax for the government. He said that despite several constraints from the Central Government, his government has provided all the possible facilities to the businessmen for the smooth operation of businesses that BJP has failed to do here. “The per capita income of Delhi is Rs 3,54,000 which is almost thrice of the per capita income of the country. Delhi’s rank in ease of doing business is consistently improving in the country too. Local industrialists receive inexpensive but full-time electricity. If we can make it happen in Delhi with several constraints, wonders can be done here with the wise utilisation of Uttarakhand’s resources,” stated Sisodia. He added, “The government must treat businessmen with respect rather than as some tax evaders. The government’s job is to provide a safe ambiance for business and work with businessmen for their development rather than doing business. If AAP comes to power next year, the government would not take any businesses and industries related decision without discussing with the businessmen.”

Sisodia, who is on a two-day visit to the state from Tuesday left for Uttarkashi after the event in Dehradun. He will visit the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) and join a roadshow from Uttarkashi Gyansu tunnel on Wednesday.
