No student to be deprived of admission – Higher Edu minister

Directs VCs to release pending results, hold convocation ceremonies in December

Bowing to the demand of the students for admissions in the colleges, the Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that no student would be deprived from admission in the government colleges and universities of the state. The minister has directed the officers of the department to increase or decrease the number of seats in the colleges as per the requirement. Rawat gave these orders while undertaking a review meeting of the higher education department at the Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre (DMMC) hall at the state secretariat on Tuesday. In the meeting the minister directed the Vice Chancellors (VC) to declare the pending results and upload the results in the Digi-locker. He said that the officers concerned should complete the different construction activities without any delay and submit the Utilisation Certificate (UC). The minister said that all the universities should organise convocation ceremonies in the month of December. On a terse note he said that the students should not face any problem regarding their results and the educational certificates and directed that the universities should fix responsibilities for this.

In the meeting Rawat said that the Departmental Promotion Committees (DPC) should be held soon to fill the vacant posts of officers in the department. The minister also directed that the faculty members should be deployed in the newly opened colleges of the state. He said that the vacant posts of groups C and D should be filled with the candidates from Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL). Rawat said that the process of distribution of tablets to more than one lakh students of government colleges should be expedited.
