In view of the orange alert issued for the Dehradun district by the state meteorological centre, the district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar has directed the officials to rehabilitate 90 families living on the banks of rivers in Rishikesh.

Kumar gave these directions to the officials concerned during his on-site inspection of flooded areas in Rishikesh on Thursday. The officials informed the DM that 90 families living near Chandrabhaga and Ganga rivers are shifted to safer places every year but they return to the place and rebuild their huts after the water level of the rivers goes down.

On this, the DM directed officials to demarcate the land of the Gram Panchayat for rehabilitation of these families and take action against those who do not follow the rules.
