One killed, two injured in two separate accidents

Boy swept away in river yet to be traced

One man died and two sustained injuries in two separate accidents in Dehradun district on Sunday.  In a third incident a boy was swept away in a river and could not be found till late in the evening. The officials informed that the police received information around 2:45 AM on Sunday that a vehicle had fallen into a gorge near Koti Icchadi dam near Dakpatthar. The police called a rescue team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from the Dakpatthar post to conduct the search operation. The officials informed that the victim was trapped under the vehicle and the team along with locals removed him from there and found that he had died. The officials said that the vehicle was carrying a man identified as Sudhir Singh (24) who belonged to Himachal Pradesh. He was transporting apples from Himachal Pradesh to Saharanpur Mandi, as per the officials. They said that the deceased’s family members were informed and the body was sent to carry out necessary procedures. In another accident, a car carrying two people fell into a 100 metre gorge near Chakrata in the wee hours of Sunday. The SDRF team was called at the spot that rescued the victims who sustained injuries and were sent for treatment. Besides this, a child went missing when he was bathing in Amlawa river in Kalsi area along with his friends on Sunday afternoon. He was swept away by the river as per his friends, said the officials. The SDRF along with water police started the search operation after receiving the information but the boy could not be found till late evening. The search operation will be resumed on Monday, said the officials.
