62 new cases of dengue found in U’khand

The patients of the vector-borne disease dengue are continuing to increase in Uttarakhand.  The Health department reported 62 new cases of the disease on Saturday. The total number of active dengue cases in the State is now 342. The State has a total of 2,548 cumulative cases of the disease in this season. As per the department data, a total of 2,191 patients have recovered from the disease so far. The authorities reported 24 new cases of the disease from Pauri, 16 from Dehradun, 12 from Nainital, seven from Haridwar, two from Chamoli and one from Udham Singh Nagar on Thursday. 

The department has so far reported the death of 15 patients from the disease with Dehradun district alone reporting 13 deaths and two deaths in Nainital district. A total of 943 cases of dengue have been reported in Dehradun this year while Pauri and  Haridwar have reported 549 and 429 cases so far. 

Dengue is a viral infection spread by the mosquito Aedes Aezypti popularly known as Tiger Mosquito.  The symptoms of the disease are persistent high fever, rashes, headache and pain in the joints.
