The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) will focus on making Haridwar an ideal city of the State and no unauthorised political pressure will be accepted on the functioning of the corporation. The newly appointed municipal commissioner Dayanand Saraswati stated this while talking about his work priorities in the corporation. He said that the corporation will also make a plan for the proper collection and disposal of garbage generated in the city.

According to him, the corporation will also work on the waterlogging and sanitation issues in the city. He said that the MCH will conduct awareness campaigns to encourage locals to dispose of segregated domestic waste which will make the garbage disposal process easy for the MCH.

Saraswati, who has also served as the deputy Kumbh Mela officer asserted that the corporation will work hard at every level to make Haridwar an ideal city and no irregularities will be tolerated. He also revealed that he will soon demand more sanitation employees from the State administration as the corporation does not have adequate workers to carry out the work. The new commissioner also made it clear that he will not allow any unauthorised political pressure to affect the working methods of the corporation and every work will be done considering the welfare of the public.
