Uttarakhand seeks assistance from Japan Disaster Management

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State should take the cooperation of Japan in disaster management and earthquake-resistant building technology. He was speaking during an interaction organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) forum of parliamentarians with the help of the Japanese embassy at his residence on Tuesday. In the meeting, discussions on ways to increase the partnership between Uttarakhand and Japan were held.  Welcoming the Japanese delegation in their language, the CM said that Uttarakhand is a vulnerable State in terms of disaster and earthquakes. He opined that assistance from Japan should be taken in setting up a disaster management institute in the State. Listing tourism, agriculture, and horticulture as sectors where the potential of Uttarakhand is very high, the CM said that the State government is continuously working to enhance these aspects further. He said that efforts should be made to take help from Japan in marketing local products of the State by doing some value addition. He said that the State would welcome any initiative by Japan to send any team or delegation to study the culture and heritage of Uttarakhand and provide all possible assistance in this regard. He said that Uttarakhand is a leading State in sectors of Yoga, Ayush, and wellness tourism and said that every help would be provided to Japan in these fields. 

The president of the FICCI forum of parliamentarians and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the deputy chief of mission, the Embassy of Japan, Kunihiko Kawaju, the deputy secretary general of the FICCI Manish Singhal, secretaries Pankaj Kumar Pandy, BVRC Purushottam, director general of industries Rohit Meena and others were also present during the interaction.
