Governor summons Assembly session from Nov 29 in Dehradun

Wednesday, 16 November 2022 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has summoned the third session (budget session) of the year 2022 of the Uttarakhand Assembly from November 29. The session would be held in the Vidhan Sabha building in Dehradun. The session is expected to end on December 5. The notification issued by the Vidhan Sabha session has set the speculation to rest about the place of the winter session.

In the session, the opposition parties could target the government for shying away from holding the assembly session in Gairsain. The government had organized the budget session in the month of June this year in Dehradun citing the Char Dham Yatra as an excuse. It is pertinent to mention here that the Pushkar Singh Dhami government has not organized a single session of the assembly in Gairsain. In March 2021, the budget session of the Uttarakhand assembly was organized in Gairsain and after that, no session has been organized there. Interestingly during this session the then CM Trivendra Singh Rawat was replaced.  Recently the speaker of the assembly Ritu Khanduri convened a meeting of the leaders of the legislature parties to discuss the session.

The opposition Congress has made it clear that it would put the government in the dock on the issues of increasing unemployment, the paper leak case of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSC), recruitment scams in different departments of government, the backdoor appointments in Vidhan Sabha and deteriorating law and order condition. The Congress would also raise the issue of the murder of Ankita Bhandari forcefully and corner the government on the issue of women’s safety.
