Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the creation of a corpus fund for the conservation of the arts and culture of the State’s tribal community. The CM made this announcement at the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas program at the State tribal research cum cultural center here on Tuesday. He said that the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas will be observed every year in the State. Expressing his commitment to the development of tribal areas, the CM said that the government will consider the establishment of residential schools in border areas for providing better educational facilities for tribal students.

Dhami said, “Our tribal community is akin to a strong root of the banyan that our nation is. Strengthening the tribal community and making it self-reliant is vital for the betterment of the nation and State. Due to the major contribution of tribals in the freedom movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced last year that November 15 will be commemorated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas every year. This provides the tribals to showcase their talents on the one hand while on the other hand, it provides the non-tribals to learn about the art and culture of the tribal community.”

He said that as per PM Modi’s vision, the remote border areas of the State are also being developed. The government is working consistently to encourage local production and industries. Cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Tribal Welfare director Sanjay Tolia and others were also present on the occasion.
