Strongly condemning the Uttarakhand government’s decision to allow tourists to the Char Dham shrines without the Covid-19 test report, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that priests and the people living in these Dhams have come under threat of the disease by this decision. Talking to media persons at state headquarters of Congress party the PCC president said that it appears that the government has taken this decision since senior BJP leader Uma Bharati and state minister Dhan Singh Rawat had recently visited these sites despite being Covid-19 positive. He opined that the state government in order to prevent itself from the embarrassment of not taking any action against these leaders has allowed everyone to visit these shrines without any restriction.

Singh claimed that the lives of teerth purohits  shopkeepers and people residing in these shrines have come under threat by the decision of the government.

Launching a scathing attack on the state government, the PCC president said that it has proved to be a failure in every respect. He said that the economy of the state is in shambles and the development has ceased. Singh said that the government had promised to double the income of farmers but now brought such laws which farmers have termed draconian. The state government has failed miserably in providing jobs to unemployed and the disaster management has totally failed. He claimed that a power struggle is going on at present between the government and administration. The government is under pressure since one of its own MLAs is complaining about corruption and brought a work adjournment motion in state assembly.
