Doon Police warns rumour mongers on recruitment scams

Thursday, 16 February 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Police are monitoring all posts being shared on social media platforms regarding protests of unemployed youths against recruitment scams in Dehradun and will take strict action against those spreading baseless rumours or disinformation which can disturb law and order. The whole protest being done in the name of unemployed youths also allegedly seems suspicious to the police.

The police have also frozen a bank account which was allegedly used to fund the violence done on February 9 by anti-social elements, as per the senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar. He said that the police have also identified 10 stone pelters so far who allegedly pelted stones at police personnel and damaged public and private vehicles near Gandhi Park on February 9. The police have also released a video and photographs of these 10 accused. The police have registered cases against them in various sections under Public Property Disposal Act and Criminal Law Act.

The SSP said, “Some anti-social elements on February 9 near Gandhi Park pelted stones at our police personnel with an intention to spread anarchy. We have released a video and photographs of people involved in violence during protests. If anyone has any information regarding them, they should send it to us through WhatsApp number 9997233033.” He said that the identity of informants will be kept confidential. “All culprits will be identified soon by the police. We are investigating the matter and will reveal more details once the investigation is completed. I also appeal to the youths to not get involved in any activity of spreading disinformation through social media platforms as police have been monitoring all platforms and would take stringent action as per the law,” added Kunwar.
