The Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said on Saturday that the dates of the Uttarakhand- State Eligibility Test (U- SET) examination would be declared soon. He said that the Kumaon University would conduct the important examination and it has been directed to release the schedule of the examination soon.
Rawat said that directives from the University Grants Commission (UGC) were sought by the State administration on conduction of the examination and it has given its nod. The minister said that the examination would be conducted with total transparency and the university administration has been asked to prepare a work plan for it. Rawat said that the U- SET examination is being conducted after a long time interval so large numbers of students are expected to participate in it. He said that the Kumaon University has been asked to complete all formalities so that the examination is successfully conducted.
Rawat said that the successful candidates of the U- SET would pave the way for filling the posts of assistant professors in the government colleges and universities in the State. It is pertinent to mention here that U- SET is the essential qualification for applying for the posts of Assistant Professors in the universities and colleges. It is considered equivalent to the National Eligibility Test (NET). It would be conducted for Hindi, English, Social sciences, History, Geography, physics, chemistry, zoology, commerce, economic and geology subjects.
