Thunderstorms likely in State today, temperatures to remain high

The weather in Uttarakhand continues to fluctuate with partly cloudy conditions coupled with very light rain in some places while the temperatures remain high. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous regions of the State today. The meteorological centre has also forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts and at isolated places in remaining mountainous districts of the State today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State. The meteorological centre has further forecast that surface winds are expected to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) over isolated places in plains of the State on Tuesday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky with possibility of thunder cloud development in some areas towards afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in parts of the State on Monday were 35.2 degrees Celsius and 20.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.5 degrees Celsius and 15.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.6 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24.2 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
