THDC India Limited (THDCIL) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) of 10,000 MW in Rajasthan with an estimated investment of Rs 40,000 crore for establishment of Renewable Energy Parks/Projects of 10,000 MW. On behalf of THDCIL, the director (Finance) J Behera signed the LOI.

The land bank will be allocated by the Rajasthan government through RRECL. The RE Parks will be implemented through SPV in the term of a JV company with RRECL in the ratio of 74:26.

With the above intent of investment in the energy sector by THDCIL, it is expected that around 10,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities will be created during the peak time of construction which will boost the local economy. The project will be commissioned between third and fifth year in a phased manner. These mega ventures by THDCIL and RRECL are expected to usher in the socio-economic development of the project areas and also bring in cheap solar electricity in the region. This shall also contribute towards RE capacity addition target of 500 GW by 2030 set out by Government of India at COP 26.

Behera congratulated the officials from THDCIL and Rajasthan government for successfully completing the formalities regarding the LOI. “It is the beginning of our mutual relationship with the Rajasthan government as THDCIL is expanding its business operations in various parts of the country,” he said.
