State DGP hands over two more cases to STF

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested the 20th accused in the case of the graduate level examination paper leak in recruitment tests conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC). The accused is a junior engineer posted in Uttar Pradesh. In another development, the STF will now handle the investigation of two more recruitment scam-based cases including the Forest Guard examination cheating case of 2020 besides the ongoing investigation of the exam paper leak of the graduate level recruitment examination conducted by UKSSSC. The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar handed over the investigation for both cases to the STF on Friday. Kumar said that the police caught members of the gang which helped some job candidates to cheat through Bluetooth devices in the Forest Guard examination. The case is registered in Haridwar and Pauri districts and now, the STF will also investigate the case. The STF will handle the investigation of the Secretariat Guard and Junior Assistant (Judicial) examinations cases too, informed the DGP.

The STF arrested the 20th accused from Dhampur in Uttar Pradesh, a junior engineer named Lalit Raj Sharma, who allegedly provided leaked question papers to over two dozen candidates at his flat the night before the exam. It is the first arrest from UP in this case. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF, Ajai Singh informed that several candidates from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand gathered in Dhampur to solve the leaked question papers before the exam. Singh said that Sharma is closely associated with the accused Hakam Singh and the UP cheating mafia. The accused will be present before the court and more arrests are expected from UP in the coming days. The STF team members have also been dispatched to carry out the investigation in several other locations too, as per the SSP. The STF has so far arrested 20 accused for their alleged involvement in the case.
