Tourists especially from the Delhi region thronged Nainital on Friday in view of the G20 summit being held in the national Capital and school holidays. The sudden rise in the arrival of tourists in the lake city has also resulted in the usual problems including traffic jams. In the recent past, tourist numbers in the city were high due to Chehallum and Janmashtami.

The arrival of more tourists on Friday from Delhi and other cities brought smiles on the faces of businessmen and those associated with the tourism and hospitality business though the local residents suffered the negative consequences like traffic jams and other issues caused by crowding in the city.

On Friday, 839 tourists visited the cave gardens and 209 visited the Himalayan botanical garden in Narayannagar. Similarly, 867 people visited the woodland waterfalls on Nainital-Kaladhungi motor road. A number of visitors also visited the other tourist destinations in Nainital and neighbouring towns.
