The national highway to Badrinath has been damaged during the rains on the stretch between Joshimath and the Narsinh temple. Considering this, the Joshimath police have prepared a traffic diversion plan for the route. According to this plan the vehicles plying from the Helang police post towards Joshimath and the heavy vehicles ply from Marwadi police post to Joshimath will be allowed to proceed at regular intervals considering the traffic flow. This step is being taken to prevent traffic jams in the Joshimath main bazaar and other places.
The stretch of the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway between Joshimath and Narsinh temple has sustained considerable damage at various spots during the monsoon. Repair work is currently underway on this stretch of the road. The local police have prepared a traffic plan considering the Char Dham Yatra which is underway. As part of this plan, the vehicles from Helang police post and heavy vehicles from Marwadi police post will be allowed to proceed at regular intervals after 7 AM.
