Sports scholarships to 300 boys and girls were given in a programme held on the occasion of National sports day in Pauri collectorate on Monday. In the programme, the MLA Pauri, Raj Kumar Pori, and district magistrate (DM) Vijay Jogdande handed over the cheques to 300 sports participants under the Mukhyamantri Udaimaan Khiladi Unnayan Yojana (MUKUY).
These upcoming players belonging to the age group eight to 14 years were selected on the basis of their performance in competitions held at Nyaya panchayat, block, and district levels in different sports events. A total of 150 boys and 150 girls were selected for a scholarship of Rs 1500.
Speaking on the occasion the Pauri MLA, Pori said that every student male or female should participate in the sports competitions so that they can show their talent in future competitions.
DM Jogdande said that the benefit of this scholarship will be given upto one year for the promotion of the sportsman. The different sports activities will be conducted time by time so that participants could better their performances, he said.
