In an exemplary crackdown on corruption in the ambitious Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the State Health Authority (SHA) has initiated the process of recovery of Rs 3.66 Crores from the Kalindi hospital Vikasnagar, Dehradun. The district administration would recover the amount from the hospital which has been blacklisted and removed from the panel of hospitals of the Ayushman Yojana after it was found involved in forgery and bogus claims. On Wednesday the additional director administration of the SHA released the Recovery Certificate (RC) for the hospital. The authority has also directed the hospital to deposit a sum of Rs 2.40 crore as claim recovery and penalty in another case till May 16. The SHA would issue another RC in case the hospital fails to deposit this amount within a stipulated time frame.

The RC mentions that the hospital submitted claims with the help of forged bills of 581 surgeries. In another case it submitted forged bills of surgery of 215 patients. In all these 796 cases which were examined by the SHA, the anaesthetists claimed to be involved in the surgery have submitted in writing that they were not involved in the surgeries.

It is pertinent to mention here that the SHA administration has registered a FIR against the hospital for forgery and fraud. On April 24 the Authority had blacklisted the hospital for a period of five years. The SHA has now started the process to recover its dues after the hospital failed to deposit the money it received as forged claims from the authority and the penalty imposed on it.
