A surprise visit to Garhwal commissioner’s camp office

Out of 11 employees in the Garhwal commissioner’s camp office, only four were found present during a surprise inspection conducted by chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat along with the chief secretary Om Prakash on Tuesday. After checking the attendance register, the CM directed the Garhwal commissioner Ravinath Raman to immediately hold the salary of those who had not signed the attendance register.

For about an hour, the CM went through various files in the commissioner’s camp office. On asking for the receipt register, officials informed the CM that after receipt the documents are sent to the commissioner’s office in Pauri for numbering. When asked on whose order was this system implemented, officials said that it was being done on the verbal order of the then personal assistant in 2019. Expressing displeasure at this, the CM told the Garhwal commissioner that this shows carelessness towards work and that it should be discontinued.
