26 schools receive State award for cleanliness

Twenty six schools were presented the State-level Swachchh Vidyalaya Puraskar for commendable work in the field of cleanliness. Out of these, 20 schools were awarded in the overall category while six were awarded in other categories. Further, 14 schools of the State have been nominated for national level Swachchh Vidyalaya Puraskar. In addition to this, government inter college- Haripur Kalsi student Anju was also felicitated for winning the first position in traditional folk music at the Rashtriya Kala Utsav. The State’s Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat presented these awards at a function held here on Monday. The minister said that the Government of India had instituted the Swachchh Vidyalaya Puraskar to raise awareness among students on cleanliness. For the State-level Swachchh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22, 100 schools in the overall category and 73 schools in sub categories had been nominated by the district selection committees. Out of these, 26 schools were selected for the awards. The minister further informed that out of these schools, 14 schools have been nominated for the national level awards. The minister also launched the school education department’s new social media portal ‘Shaikshanik Sangam’ on the occasion. The department will upload its activities related to innovations and commendable works. The minister said that five basic aspects have been decided for the schools in the State. Cleanliness campaigns will be undertaken in every school and every school will have to adopt one village each and make it fully literate. Further work will be undertaken on addiction-free school, green campus school and monthly interactive meetings to be attended by the teachers, students and their parents.

Secretary Deepti Singh, director general Banshidhar Tiwari and other officials were also present in the meeting.
