‘New India @ 75’ to raise awareness of AIDS

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) on the orders of the government of India has prepared a concept of ‘ New India @75’ for raising awareness about AIDS and other critical diseases. 

Informing about it the Additional project director, Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society (USACS), Dr Mayank Badola said that selected government schools and colleges would be involved in it to increase awareness about AIDS and promote safe behavior for the disease so that the stigma associated with it is reduced. He added that the programme would be undertaken in three stages and in every stage 25 schools and an equal number of colleges would be included. The theme of the programme would be on HIV prevention, TB control and blood donation. Dr Badola added that the said campaign would be organised  in high prevalence districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital in the state.
