Mortal remains of martyred soldier reach U’khand

The mortal remains of army jawan Praveen Singh who was killed in a blast in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reached Dehradun airport on Friday. The mortal remains are being taken to his native village of Pundoli in Tehri district for the last rites. Singh had joined the armed forces following in the footsteps of his father Pratap Singh who had also served in the army. The martyred soldier’s wife Amita Gusain and six-year old son live in Dehradun and have reached his village after getting the news of his death. Singh’s parents live in the village and their house has been thronged by relatives and villagers since the news of the incident was received. It will be recalled that Singh was seriously injured in an IED blast and died later during treatment. Governor Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have expressed grief and paid homage to the martyr.
