More than 15 lakh patients avail benefit of Ayushman scheme

More than 15 lakh people in Uttarakhand have availed the benefit of Ayushman scheme under which an annual cover of Rs five lakh is provided free of cost to every family. As per the data made available by the State Health Authority (SHA), a total of 59,73,713 cards have so far been made under the scheme while 15,30,374 patients have benefitted from the scheme. The State government has so far spent a sum of Rs 2,955 crore for the treatment of the patients under the scheme.
A total of 2,19,240 patients have availed the benefit of dialysis, 39,560 heart surgeries and 77,120 cancer patients have availed the benefit of the scheme. Similarly 11,820 neurosurgeries, 1,31,240 eye surgeries and 31,991 obstetrics and gynaecology cases have been treated under the scheme since its inception.
The Atal Ayushman scheme started on December 25, 2018 in Uttarakhand. A total of 100 government and 199 private hospitals in the State have been empaneled under the scheme. More than 30,000 hospitals in the country are associated with the scheme.
The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State has also started the Atal Ayushman Vaya Vandana scheme for the elderly. Under this scheme elderly people ( 70 years and more) will get an additional cover of Rs five lakh per year which will be in addition to the existing cover of Rs five lakh per year to his family.
Rawat said that the Ayushman scheme has proved to be a blessing for the poor and needy patients. He said that the people suffering from serious ailments are undergoing treatment under the scheme.
