Meeting of State level midwifery task force held

A meeting of the task level task force on midwifery was held at the auditorium of National Health Mission (NHM) on Friday. The meeting was chaired by the additional secretary of Health and additional project director NHM, Amandeep Kaur. Speaking on the occasion, Kaur said that a new cadre of nursing practitioners and midwifery is being created.

It was informed in the meeting that the training of the first batch of nurse practitioner and midwife would soon start as per the guideline of the union government. The health department has set up a State midwifery training institute in State nursing college Dehradun for the purpose. Kaur said that setting up of mid level care units and training of nurse practitioner and midwifery would result in decrease in the mother and child mortality rate in the State.

 The NHM director Dr Saroj Naithani, director of medical health Dr Bharti Rana, chief medical officer of Dehradun Dr Sanjay Jain and others attended the meeting.
