The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the media plays an important role in taking the schemes of the government to the general public. He was addressing a programme organised in the Uttarakhand Press Club here on Saturday. In the programme, the CM administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected executive committee of the club. Speaking on the occasion, he said that a committee would be set to provide permanent accreditation to the journalists who were active during the Statehood movement. He assured that the efforts would be made to provide health covers to the journalists and families. Dhami said that an increment of Rs two Crores was made in the Patrakar Kalyan Kosh under which help is provided to the journalists suffering from serious diseases. He said that the director general information would make arrangements for construction of the new buildings of the Press Club, library and guest house. The CM added that a 60 per cent increase in the pension of the journalists was done last year.
The DG information Banshidhar Tiwari, founder president of the Press Club Devendra Bhasin, the new President of club Ajay Rana and others were present.
