PM’s brother arrived in Haridwar and left after rituals without BJP leaders or police being informed about programme

The ashes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraba were immersed in the Ganga river here on Saturday. The PM’s brother Pankaj Modi reached Haridwar to immerse the ashes of their mother who had breathed her last on December 30. He undertook various rituals before immersing her ashes in the Ganga. Information about Modi’s arrival here was not given to any BJP leader or minister. As seen during Hiraba’s funeral, there were no crowds of party workers and others during the ritual here which was observed more as a private affair.
The PM’s brother left Haridwar after the immersion ritual.
Pankaj Modi reached the VIP Ghat in Haridwar at about 12 PM. Information about his programme was not shared with any BJP leader or the police. The Teerth Purohit who assisted in the ritual is reportedly not a local priest.
