The Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh (MCR) has started a massive fogging campaign in view of the ensuing Char Dham Yatra. The Rishikesh mayor Anita Mamgain said that it is expected that the numbers of pilgrims will be higher in the state than in the last two years as the situation regarding Covid-19 is better this time. She said thatdespite the weekly holiday on Sunday, she directed the sanitation team to launch the fogging campaign in the city. She said that though the corporation is consistently working on improving sanitation facilities across the city, regular fogging will also be the priority of the corporation this time to minimise the risk of diseases like dengue and malaria among locals as well as the pilgrims. She said that considering the ensuing Char Dham Yatra, she has also issued directions to the municipal officials concerned to spend more time on fields to work on the issues than sitting inside their respective offices. Pilgrims will be arriving in huge numbers this year and the corporation is working day and night to ensure they get the best sanitation facilities and leaving no stone unturned to make the best possible arrangements, added the mayor.
