MCD to seal ISBT & Big Bazaar if pending property tax not paid in two weeks

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will have to seal ISBT and Big Bazaar if Ramky company that manages these buildings does not deposit the pending property tax of over Rs one crore within two weeks. Focussing on the property tax collection from the establishments which have pending dues of over Rs one lakh, the corporation recently sent a notice to Ramky company for the pending dues of ISBT and Big Bazaar which is more than Rs one crore in total.

However, the company informed the corporation that as per the agreement of Ramky with Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), the latter must deposit the property tax. “There was a meeting with Ramky Company regarding their pending property tax in which they stated that MDDA is liable to pay the property tax as per the agreement. I have talked to the officials of MDDA and there will be another meeting on Tuesday to discuss the matter further,” said the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey.

However, he informed that if the pending property tax of both the properties will not be deposited within 15 days, the MCD might have to seal the buildings. Moreover, the officials also informed that MCD will start sending notices to the owners of buildings which have pending property tax of over Rs one lakh from the next month.
