MCD kickstarts cleanliness drive for Swachh Survekshan 2021

Gearing up for the forthcoming inspection of Swachh Survekshan 2021, starting the next month, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has started cleanliness drive from Thursday. Under this drive, the sanitation workers cleaned the roads and picked upgarbage dumped along roadsides. The officials informed that to make this cleanliness campaign a success, the corporation has hired around 40 sanitation workers from Bijnor and Moradabad. This drive will last till March and on its first day, the sanitation workers covered the areas from Clock Tower to Rajpur and Ballupur, and from Rispana Bridge to ISBT.

The chief municipal health officer, Dr Kailash Joshi also inspected the work done by the workers. He stated that MCD and sanitation workers are working towards improving sanitation facilities but they also expect locals to contribute to this sanitation campaign by not littering in public places. Moreover, the officials also informed that they have also started raising awareness among locals about Swachh Survekshan through this campaign and by playing audio messages in garbage collecting vehicles across the city.
