Parking facilities being built at a cost of Rs 46 crore

New parking spaces will be developed at various locations in the district at a cost of about Rs 46 crore. Nainital district magistrate Dhiraaj Garbyal informed that in order to resolve traffic congestion in the district and provide parking space to tourists, parking facilities are being developed at Nainital Kacheri compound, Bhawali, Sattal, Thandi Sadak in Haldwani, behind Nala number 23 mosque and at Ramnagar.

The executing agency KMVN is constructing the parking at Nainital Kacheri compound in accordance with the chief minister’s announcement. The parking with capacity for 150 vehicles is being developed at a cost of about Rs nine crore. To enhance parking capacity in Sattal, the district development authority has requested revenue land from the district administration. The DM has made 15 nali revenue land available for this purpose. The KMVN is facilitating parking for 30 to 40 vehicles along with 20 shops and sheds for vendors. Garbyal said that construction of 20 shops will provide employment to locals while also prevent encroachment at the tourist spot. The KMVN has been directed to complete the construction by the next tourist season without fail. This facility is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.95 crore. Similarly parking for 86 vehicles is being constructed at Bhawali at a cost of Rs 12 crore, for 150 vehicles at a cost of Rs 17 crore in Ramnagar and for 150 vehicles at Thandi Sadak at a cost of Rs 5.50 crore.
