The Uttarakhand agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi on Wednesday said that a replica of INS Vikrant would be displayed at the upcoming Sainya Dham in Uttarakhand. “We will soon take up this matter with the Navy officers,” he said.

The minister visited the shipyard at Kochi in Kerala to see the INS Vikrant, the country’s first indigenous aircraft-carrier in service with the Indian Navy.  During the minister’s visit, senior Indian Navy officials were present. Besides, Joshi met a few officials from the Indian Navy hailing from Uttarakhand.

The minister said that the INS Vikrant exemplifies India’s iron resolve to achieve indigenous manufacturing in the defence sector.  “This is a monumental achievement that signifies that India is becoming self-reliant,” he said.

Showering praise on the Narendra Modi government’s resolve in the direction of ‘atmanirbhar Bharat’ or self-reliant India, the Uttarakhand minister said that Vikrant is the biggest ship of India in service with the Indian Navy. “This has come up in tune with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to Make in India resolve in every field of our collective life, particularly in defence,” he said.

Echoing PM Modi’s speech which he gave while commissioning INS Vikrant, Joshi said that this is not just a warship, but a glowing testament to the country’s talent, courage and commitment to aspirational New India.
