Research, training important for controlling pandemic- VC Pandey

The vice chancellor (VC) of HNB Medical Education University, Dr Hem Chandra Pandey has said that to control the pandemics research based process should be adopted. He was addressing the inaugural session of 24th Uttar Pradesh- Uttarakhand conclave-2021 of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) here on Saturday. The two day e- conclave is being organised under the aegis of the Community Medicine department of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC).  Dr Pandey said that the country and the state bore the brunt of the pandemic of Covid-19 and the health experts did their best to contain the disease.

The head of department (HoD) of community medicine of GDMC Dr Devvrat Rai welcomed the guests and participants in the conclave. He said that in view of the pandemic of Covid-19, the health experts should evolve a concrete strategy to deal with pandemics in future. The principal of GDMC, Dr Ashutosh Sayana expressed happiness that the college got the opportunity to host the conclave. He said that for the first time the college is organising such a conclave of national level.

The president of IAPSM Dr Harivansh Chopra praised the community medicine department of GDMC for organising the conclave. He said that to organise an event of this scale during the pandemic period is nothing less than a challenge. Dr Chopra said that use of new technology, research and training would help in controlling pandemic situations in future.

In the conclave, health experts from UP, Uttarakhand and other parts of the country are participating. The director National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Saroj Naithani, secretary IAPSM Dr Manish Kumar, Dr Puneet Ohri, Dr Shiv Kumar Yadav and others were present on the opening day of the conclave.
