Jhanda Mela Nagar Parikrama route shortened

In view of the risk of Covid-19 contagion in the approaching Jhanda Mela, the Jhanda Mela Organising Committee has decided to shorten the route to Nagar Parikrama on April 4.

The committee has also started installing banners to raise awareness among the devotees arriving from other states to participate in the event. On Tuesday, several devotees arrived in the city to take part in the event from the nearby states. Those devotees who did not possess the negative report of RT-PCR test conducted within the last 72 hours were sent to Mahant Indiresh Hospital by the committee. The members of the Mela organising committee informed that the committee is working in coordination with Dehradun district administration to make suitable arrangements for the Jhanda Mela.

As a measure to minimise the risk of Covid-19 contagion among devotees, the committee has decided to alter and shorten the route for Nagar Parikrama on April 4. This year, the Nagar Parikrama will start at 7 AM from the premises of Darbar Sahib and will pass through Bhandari Chowk, Akhara Bazar, Darshani Gate, Saharanpur Road and Samadhi Sthal of Shri Mahant Sahiban and subsequently will return back to Shri Darbar Sahib to conclude the rituals. The Mahant of Shri Guru Ram Rai Darbar Sahib has also appealed to devotees to take all the possible precautions to restrict Covid-19 contagion by limiting the number of arrivals of devotees in Dehradun.

Those who plan to participate in the event must follow the district administrations’ guidelines and bring a negative report of RT-PCR test, appealed the Mahant.
