In latest news from Uttarakhand, taking serious note of a PIL stating that leftovers of non-vegetarian foods along with the human excreta and urine being dumped into the Tehri Lake (Bhagirathi) by the floating huts and restaurants, the division bench of the acting chief justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and justice Vivek Bharti Sharma of Nainital High Court ordered the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to submit the laboratory report of the sewage treatment plant (STP) by January 5. Though the PCB team conducted inspection of the area on December 15-16, the lab report of the STP is yet to come, the court noted. Notably, one Naveen Singh Rana of Pauri Garhwal had filed the PIL, stating that the huts and eateries floating on Tehri Lake had been misusing the permission given by the State government to boost tourism.
