Wish to deepen links between Maharashtra & U’khand: Koshyari

Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that he is attempting to deepen the connections between the people of Uttarakhand and Maharashtra. Talking to media persons after arriving at the Raj Bhawan here on Thursday, Koshyari said, “I am from the mountains and now I am serving near the sea. It is my attempt to link the mountains with the sea. Thousands of people from Maharashtra visit Uttarakhand and people are also according importance to the pilgrimage to Kedarnath. The affection of the people towards Uttarakhand has increased,” he said.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi too has special affection for Uttarakhand, he said that the PM would be visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath on Friday, while adding that Modi had visited Kedarnath several times since assuming the charge as PM. Stating that various important temples in the State will be renovated, Koshyari said that the Kailash route in Kumaon will also be enhanced for tourism.

He said, “There is reverse migration now. People are returning to their villages and becoming involved with startups and cottage industry. The cultivation of fruits is also being encouraged. The people who are working in the field of self employment should be encouraged more so that the development of villages can also be facilitated,” he said.
