Govt working towards implementation of UCC in U’khand: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government is also working in the direction of bringing the uniform civil code bill which will be implemented soon in the State. The government is going to bring a strict law against land jihad whereas a strict law against religious conversion has also been introduced. He said this after launching various developmental works worth Rs 21,997 lakh in Nainital Assembly constituency on Monday. Dhami also announced construction of a bypass from Bhawali sanitorium to Ratighat to resolve the traffic congestion at Kainchi Dham. He also announced a number of other construction and development works in the area. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the works for which the foundation stones were unveiled will be completed soon. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, work on projects and schemes worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore was being undertaken in the State. The State government is working on the vision of creating employment opportunities to prevent migration.  The CM said that the State government has allocated a sum of Rs 813 crore to make the farmers self reliant through horticulture and similar activities. The government has set a target of setting up 50,000 polyhouses in the State in the coming year. Special efforts are being undertaken to make the youth, women and farmers of the State self reliant, he added. Dhami said that after the introduction of a strict anti-copying law in the State, about 4.5 lakh youth had appeared in the four recruitment examinations held in the State. The examinations are being held in a transparent manner and able candidates are being selected on the basis of their talent. He said that the anti-copying law introduced in Uttarakhand is being viewed as a model in other States where it is being implemented, said Dhami.

The Union minister of State for Defence and Tourism Ajay Bhatt and local MLA Sarita Arya also expressed their views on the occasion.
