Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign conducted in Pithoragarh’s Sela village

The Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign under the Central government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organised in Sela village of Pithoragarh district’s Dharchula under the Vibrant Village Scheme (VVS) on Friday. The campaign was organised by the district project management unit of Swajal, Pithoragarh, said the officials. Under the campaign, 20 members of the Mahila Mangal Dal of the village did voluntary labour and cleaned the common roads of the village along with various public places and premises of community buildings. They said that Sela is a village which is situated in the border area of the country and has been declared as a vibrant village under VVS which is aimed at facilitating various developments in the villages in border areas of the country. Sela is one of the Gram Panchayats with seasonal migration in the district and all the villagers reside in Dharchula during the winter season. It is also a major tourist destination in the district, said officials. They also informed that for proper solid and liquid waste management in the village, a project will be commenced soon in coordination with MNREGA and the Panchayati Raj department under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Rural. In this project, a 72 metre drain will be constructed along with four community soak pits as per the requirement. They said that a plastic collection centre will also be constructed at the village level besides the installation of a steel dustbin under the same project.
