After meeting the party high command, Rawat said that he would lead the party in the assembly elections as head of the election campaign committee. However he made it clear that the chief minister candidate would be decided by the party high command after the election. “It has been a tradition in the Congress party that the decision on the legislature party leader is taken by the Congress president. It is her prerogative and we respect it with our hearts,’’ he said.

On the question whether his limbs have been untied now Rawat asserted that he is marching now by singing ‘ Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja Congress Ke Geet Gaye Ja…’.

“I would continue to walk for the Congress party and for Uttarakhandiyat’’, he said.

It is learnt that former president of Congress party Rahul Gandhi held a separate meeting with Harish Rawat on Friday in which the veteran leader informed about the problem he is facing while campaigning for the party. The role of the in charge of state unit Devendra Yadav was also discussed in the meeting.
