Former chief minister Harish Rawat was the cynosure of all eyes in the coronation ceremony of Ganesh Godiyal as the new chief of Uttarakhand Congress. By his actions and words Rawat who had been handed over the responsibility to head the crucial election campaign committee clearly showed that he still is the boss of the party in the state.

In his address Rawat struck an emotional chord with the party workers by stating that he was able to win over the Covid-19 infection despite remaining 19 days in the ICU of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi due to their love and faith. He also compared the works of his government with the present government of Uttarakhand and that of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi. He said that the unemployment during his government was at lowest and 32000 youngsters were given government jobs. “After coming to power in Uttarakhand we will set a mechanism to bring the state back on track in six months.

We will increase the participation of women to 60 per cent in the state’s economy and will fill 29,000 posts in one year,’’ he asserted. The former CM also criticised the BJP government for relaxing the land laws and asserted that the Congress would make Gairsain as capital of the state when it comes to power.  Rawat also said that the party has a roadmap to strengthen the state. He also launched a blistering attack on AAP and equated the party with tourists.
