Couple brutally murdered in Rudrapur, accused absconding

A couple was brutally murdered in their house in Udham Singh Nagar’s Rudrapur in the wee hours of Thursday. The victims have been identified as Sanju Yadav (38) and his wife Sonali (34) who lived in the Transit Camp area of Rudrapur along with their two children. The couple used to work in a factoryun  SIIDCUL industrial estate in Rudrapur. Sonali’s mother Gauri who was also living with the family got severely injured while trying to save her grandchildren, said the superintendent of police (City) Manoj Katyal. He said that as per the information gathered so far, Sanjay, Sonali and their daughter were sleeping in one room and their son was sleeping with his grandmother in another room. An unknown man reportedly entered the house in the wee hours and killed Sanjay by slitting his throat with a sharp weapon. This awakened Sonali and her daughter after which, the accused killed her too while the daughter ran towards her grandmother’s room. When the grandmother came out after hearing the child’s voice, the accused attacked her with a sharp weapon as well. During this, both children came out of the house making noise that gathered the crowd outside the house after which, the accused escaped. The police have sent the bodies for post mortem after carrying out the necessary process. The grandmother was also hospitalised as she sustained some wounds and her health was critical till late evening as per the police. According to the officials, the motive behind the muders appears to be personal. The police have started the investigation. Police teams have begun analysing footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area and the absconding accused will be nabbed soon, as per the police.
