Police horse Raja dies after 20 years of service

Police horse Raja died here on Thursday after more than 20 years of service. The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh also attended the funeral ceremony of Raja, who had served the department for 20.5 years.  In the year 2003, after getting training from PTC Moradabad, Raja had become a part of the police department. He died at the age of 24 after prolonged illness on Thursday. According to the police, Raja had served especially well during the last two Kumbh Melas, two Ardh Kumbhs and all the important religious events held in Haridwar during his period of service.  Apart from this, Raja, who had given his service in Dehradun district, was running unwell for some time.  As soon as the information about Raja’s death was received, the Haridwar SSP reached the mounted line at Bairagi Camp and along with other police officers participated in the funeral ceremony of Raja.

The SSP said that Raja’s death is an irreparable loss for the police department.  The equine was serving in the police department for the last 20 years and had played an important role in all the important events including Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh.
