Rs 5.27 crore interest free loans distributed to women SHGs

An interest-free loan scheme for women self help groups under the Pandit Deendayal Kisan Kalyan Yojana was inaugurated at Gairsain on the occasion of international women’s day on Monday. Loans amounting to Rs 5.27 crore was distributed to 156 women SHGs of the district on the occasion.Addressing the event virtually, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat announced that each Anganwadi and Asha worker who had worked during the Covid period would be given Rs 10,000. Further, Rs 15,000 would be given to each Mahila Mangal Dal and women SHG. Stressing on the importance of the empowering women for the integrated development of society and state, Rawat said that the state will progress as swiftly as the participation of women increases. Referring to the completion of the state government’s four years in office on March 18, he said that various steps for welfare and empowerment of women had been taken during this period.

State minister for Higher Education and Cooperatives, Dhan Singh Rawat presented cheques to 11 women SHGs of Chamoli district on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he said that a major initiative had been undertaken by starting the distribution of interest-free loan of upto Rs five lakh each to women self help groups in the state.  Various public welfare schemes are being undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the centre and Trivendra Singh Rawat in the state. Various public representatives and government officials were also present on the occasion.

In another development, the State minister also inaugurated a centre of excellence in employment at the government polytechnic in Gairsain. This centre of excellence is aimed at encourage entrepreneurship and facilitating value addition to local products to provide a better market to them.
