A three-day State level Deepawali fair will be organised at Police Line in Dehradun from October 18 to 20 under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Police Wives Welfare Association (UPWWA).

The fair will provide a platform for the women belonging to police families to showcase their products like handicraft art, handmade woollen clothes, copper utensils, Uttarakhandi cuisine, decorative items made from Aipan besides products like varieties of pickles, papads, snacks and several other food items.

Stalls will be installed in the fair displaying such products for sale as an attempt to make the women and their families self-reliant. The fair will be inaugurated by Geeta Dhami, wife of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday. Indian Idol fame Pawandeep Rajan will also perform on Tuesday at the fair. Rapper Gaurav Void will perform at the fair on the second day of the fair. Besides this, police personnel and their families will also present cultural programmes at this fair. The fair will be concluded on Thursday in the presence of the first lady of the State, Gurmit Kaur.

The UPWWA was organised for the welfare of the families of police personnel of Uttarakhand. The organisation regularly interacts and coordinates with the women of the families to make them independent and to look after their families’ needs and resolve their issues.
