The Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) organised a workshop for local shopkeepers and businessmen in Town Hall on Wednesday to discuss the proposed projects in the Paltan Bazaar area. The workshop was conducted by the additional district magistrate (ADM) and additional executive officer of DSCL, KK Mishra on the directions of the district magistrate and chief executive officer (CEO) of DSCL, R Rajesh Kumar after his recent inspection of the construction work in the area. The local shopkeepers had expressed their disappointment with the ongoing construction work in the area during the inspection and had stated that their issues are not being considered by DSCL while developing the area under the project. Due to this, the DM instructed the officials concerned to organise a workshop to interact with shopkeepers to listen to their issues and recommendations. In the workshop on Wednesday, the shopkeepers expressed their concern about the issue of rain water entering the shops due to the ongoing construction work between Kotwali and Darshani Gate. They said that they have repeatedly requested the smart city team  to keep the level of the road below the pavement  to prevent water entering inside the shops and waterlogging in the area in the past too. Mishra assured them that all the possible and appropriate efforts would be made by the teams to solve the waterlogging issue during the rain. The shopkeepers also gave their approval to develop the area as per the proposed design of the smart city project besides carrying out drainage works on the stretch from Kotwali to Dasharni Gate.
