DIS conducts awareness programme on dengue prevention

The Doon International School (DIS) The school is conducting an awareness programme twice a week on its premises to educate students on how to combat this vector-borne disease. The school claimed that it is following the guidelines issued by the chief education officer of Dehradun to ensure the safety of the students.

Talking to this correspondent, the DIS principal Dinesh Barthwal informed that amid the rise in dengue cases in the city the school is conducting an awareness programme during school assembly. The programme is being run by the school students twice a week and covers important topics related to the symptoms and prevention of dengue, he added.

He informed that acting on the chief education officer’s instructions regarding dengue, the students are wearing full sleeves shirts and trousers. Apart from this, the school management has asked children not to wear the sports dress during the dengue period. “Fogging is being done at the school on a regular basis. With this we also make sure that no water should accumulate anywhere in the school premises and at the same time bleaching powder is being sprinkled on the wet areas of the premises,” said Barthwal.
